Degree-এর প্রকারভেদ
১. Positive Degree
সংজ্ঞা: একটি sentence-এ noun বা pronoun-এর গুণ, দোষ, অবস্থা প্রভৃতি বোঝাতে adjective-এর যে রূপ ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে
Positive Degree বলে।
ইংরেজি: The form of an adjective which depicts a noun or pronoun's quality, flaw or state is called Positive degree.
উদাহরণ:
- He is a talented writer.
- The flower is beautiful.
- Rina is intelligent.
২. Comparative Degree
সংজ্ঞা: দুটি noun বা pronoun-এর গুণ, দোষ, অবস্থা প্রভৃতির তুলনা করতে adjective-এর যে রূপ ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে
Comparative Degree বলে।
ইংরেজি: The form of adjective which compares two nouns' or pronouns' quality, flaw or state is called Comparative degree.
উদাহরণ:
- Arisha is taller than Trina.
- Rahim is more intelligent than Karim.
- This book is better than that one.
৩. Superlative Degree
সংজ্ঞা: Adjective-এর যে রূপটি অনেকের মধ্যে তুলনা করতে ব্যবহৃত হয় তাকে
Superlative Degree বলে।
ইংরেজি: The form of an adjective which is used to compare among many is called Superlative Degree.
উদাহরণ:
- Shahab is the best player on the cricket team.
- She is the most beautiful girl in the class.
- Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world.
Degree-এর রূপান্তর (Change of Degrees)
A. Superlative → Positive
Rule 1: সাধারণ Superlative (একক শ্রেষ্ঠ)
No other + Adjective এর পরের অংশ + verb + so/as + Adjective এর positive form + as + subject
- Superlative: Saira is the tallest girl in the class.
- Positive: No other girl in the class is as tall as Saira.
- Superlative: Shakib is the best player.
- Positive: No other player is as good as Shakib.
Rule 2: 'One of the' যুক্ত Superlative
Very few + Adjective এর পরের অংশ + verb এর plural form + so/as + adjective এর positive form + as + subject
- Superlative: Sohana is one of the best students in her class.
- Positive: Very few students in Sohana's class are as good as her.
- Superlative: Adil is one of the best players on the team.
- Positive: Very few players on the team are as good as Adil.
B. Comparative → Positive
Rule 1: 'Than any other/all other' যুক্ত Comparative
No other + than any other এর পরের অংশ + verb + so/as + adjective এর positive form + as + subject
- Comparative: Ahan is better than any other debater in the debate club.
- Positive: No other debater in the debate club is as good as Ahan.
- Comparative: Aruba is sweeter than all other singers in the program.
- Positive: No other singer in the program is as sweet as Aruba.
Rule 2: সাধারণ 'Than' যুক্ত Comparative
than এর পরের অংশ + verb + not + so/as + positive form + as + subject
- Comparative: Ahan is stronger than Rihan.
- Positive: Rihan is not as strong as Ahan.
- Comparative: Lisa is taller than Raisa.
- Positive: Raisa is not as tall as Lisa.
Rule 3: 'Than most other/than few other' যুক্ত Comparative
Very few + than most/few other এর পরের অংশ + plural form of verb + so/as + positive form + as + subject
- Comparative: Adil is more intelligent than most other students in the academy.
- Positive: Very few students in the academy are as intelligent as Adil.
Rule 4: 'No less/not less' যুক্ত Comparative
No less/not less → as, than → as
- Comparative: Karim is no less active than Rahim.
- Positive: Karim is as active as Rahim.
- Comparative: Ria is not less intelligent than Dia.
- Positive: Ria is as intelligent as Dia.
Rule 5: 'No sooner had... than' যুক্ত Comparative
As soon as + subject + past form of verb + verb এর পরের than পর্যন্ত অংশ + than এর পরিবর্তে comma (,) + বাকি অংশ
- Comparative: No sooner had he listened to it than he started laughing.
- Positive: As soon as he listened to it, he started laughing.
C. Superlative → Comparative
Rule 1: সাধারণ Superlative
Subject + verb + comparative form of adjective + than any other + rest
- Superlative: She is the most active member of the group.
- Comparative: She is more active than any other member of the group.
বিশেষ দ্রষ্টব্য যদি of all থাকে, তাহলে than all other বসে।
- Superlative: He is the most honest of all men.
- Comparative: He is more honest than all other men.
Rule 2: 'One of the' যুক্ত Superlative
Subject + verb + comparative form + than most other + rest
- Superlative: Sohana is one of the most brilliant students in the class.
- Comparative: Sohana is more brilliant than most other students in the class.
D. Positive → Comparative
Rule 1: 'No other' যুক্ত Positive
subject (Object থেকে আসবে) + verb + comparative form + than any other + No other এর পর থেকে verb এর আগের অংশ
- Positive: No other student in the class is as brilliant as him.
- Comparative: He is more brilliant than any other student in the class.
Rule 2: 'Very few' যুক্ত Positive
Object এর subjective form + verb + comparative form + than most other + very few এর পর থেকে verb এর আগ পর্যন্ত
- Positive: Very few men are as honest as Mr. Abu Taleb.
- Comparative: Mr. Abu Taleb is more honest than most other men.
Rule 3: 'As...as' যুক্ত Positive
object টা subject এ আসবে + verb + not + comparative form + than + first Subject টা Object এ আসবে
- Positive: She is as honest as her sister.
- Comparative: Her sister is not more honest than her.
E. Comparative → Superlative
Rule 1: 'Than any other' যুক্ত Comparative
Subject + verb + the + superlative form + than any other এর পরের অংশ
- Comparative: He is more brilliant than any other student in the class.
- Superlative: He is the most brilliant student in the class.
বিশেষ দ্রষ্টব্য any other-এর পরিবর্তে of all থাকলে Superlative-এর পরে of all বসে।
- Comparative: He is more brilliant than of all students.
- Superlative: He is the most brilliant of all students.
Rule 2: 'Than most other/than few other' যুক্ত Comparative
Subject + verb + one of the + superlative form + than most/few other এর পরের অংশ
- Comparative: Arif is stronger than most other boys on the team.
- Superlative: Arif is one of the strongest boys on the team.
F. Positive → Superlative
Rule 1: 'No other' যুক্ত Positive
object টা subject এ চলে আসবে + verb + the + superlative form + No other এর পরে থেকে verb এর আগের অংশ
- Positive: No other student in the class is as brilliant as Adil.
- Superlative: Adil is the most brilliant student in the class.
Rule 2: 'Very few' যুক্ত Positive
object টা subject এ আসবে + verb + one of the + superlative form + very few এর পর থেকে verb এর আগের অংশ
- Positive: Very few students in the class are as brilliant as Sohana.
- Superlative: Sohana is one of the most brilliant students in the class.
